The study was conducted in Maremma regional park in, Tuscany, Italy. The protected park was established in 1975. The study was conducted as part of a larger project on the ecology, behaviour, and relationships between mammal species in Maremma Regional Park. I used data collected continuously over three years, from April of 2020 to March 2023.
The measurements of wolf diet contents were estimated through macroscopic and microscopic analysis of scats collected within the park over the three years.
Prey availability was estimated through the use of camera traps distrubuted around the park.
Wolf prey selection indices and indices of their dietary niche breadth were then calculated per season and relationships were investigated through GLM analysis and Pearson’s correlation tests.
