The result showed that there was a significant effect of age, as the amount of play performed differed between different ages. More specifically, the amount of play gradually increased until a peak was reached at about 29 days of age, after which a decrease in play could be seen. This developmental pattern was the same for all types of play in both hatchery and control chicks. There was no significant difference between treatments in the amount of play performed. However, there was a tendency for more play in hatchery chicks.
