My name is Karolina and I’m a Polish student in the Ecology and Sustainable Development master’s program at the Linköping University. For my thesis, I wanted to do something that involved field work and insects. That’s why I chose to study how debarking of bark-beetle-colonised spruces affect saproxylic beetle species richness and composition. Working on this project meant to me so much: I had a lot of fun, faced many struggles, and I’ve learned a lot about beetles, biodiversity and forest dynamics.
