The effect of forest habitat factors on land snail species diversity in the East Vättern Scarp Landscape
Hello there, and welcome to my webpage!
The name is William, and I spent the summer of 2024 rummaging around in the steep ravines and cliffs in one of Sweden’s biodiversity hotspots; the East Vättern Scarp Landscape. Why such thrilling adventures? Well, to investigate the rich land snail diversity of these inaccessible habitats, of course!
In habitats where conditions are ideal for these tiny creatures, I wanted to see what habitat factors that affect snail species diversity. In particular, I wanted to investigate what role disturbance, both anthropogenic and natural, plays in shaping the diversity and abundance of species.
