Time spent outside

All dogs spent significantly more time outside during treatment than before and after (p < 0.05).

Dogs in the pink noise group spent significantly more time outside than dog exposed to nature sound (p < 0.05)

Based on these results all other behaviours were analysed as the fraction of time spent inside.

Resting behaviours

Dogs exposed to nature sound did lay down, alert, more than dog exposed to pink noise:

  • morning (F1, 24.903 = 5.64 p < 0.05)
  • afternoon (F4, 103.409 = 3.17 p < 0.05)

Active behaviours

There was a strong trend for the pink noise dogs to spend more time moving, especially after treatment (F1, 26.026 = 3.66, p = 0.067)

There was a trend for the pink noise dogs to spend more time in proximity to gate (F1, 25.985 = 3.36, p = 0.078)
